keep in mind that what it highlights is going to be different to what is actually searched on, because the highlighting is done in the PHP code (or maybe even the actual JS frontend), whereas the search query is acted on by the search server itself of boring technical reasons.
Also, contrary to my expectations, the search index appears to be updating daily, so that's good. I'm probably going to leave it at that unless having more current searches will be properly beneficial. There's an issue with the plugin that means it won't give me the files it needs to set up regular delta updates, and I'd have to wade through the code to figure out how it should be.
Sluggishness that you may have noticed lately has hopefully gone. The forum was being hammered by a badly behaved bot that was causing memory and cpu to spiral away into painfully high load (for those in the know, it was sitting with a load average of 50, where 1 is often considered "uncomfortably busy.") I've added another processor that means it's more likely to keep up. It'll also stop it grinding to a halt when doing backups I hope (at 1am CEST.)
Also need to do a software update of the forum soon. Perhaps this weekend, but no promises.
and use that instead. When everyone has reported that there are no problems in a few days or so time, I'll switch it over to be the only option.
There will be some mixed-content warnings. This is likely to be due to two things: people with avatars that aren't uploaded to this server and are linked to an http site somewhere else, and linking to images via http and not https. It shouldn't cause any real issues I hope, just a little "!" in the address bar. As the internet fades away from being unsecured, this'll hopefully go with it.
(but, if you have an avatar that is linked somewhere else, hows about you grab a copy and upload it locally and stop contributing to the leaking of metadata
Let me know if there are issues, and let me know if there are _not_ issues too.
I'm a bit confused, but this isn't the first time. The link you provided is the same link I've always used - at least, that what I'm thinking, so, yes, it looks lovely - and the same as it has always looked, so I guess I don't need to change my bookmark.
Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't clear about the avatar thing. Some of you have avatars on remote services, and if they're not from an https source it'll cause mixed content warnings (it'll still work, it's not the end of the world by any means.)
...and done. Now your passwords won't be sent in cleartext thanks to the folks at LetsEncrypt
Let me know if you get any weirdness, especially if old links into the forum don't redirect to their new equivalent properly. They should, but that's probably the most likely thing to go wrong.

I've got some Emusers links to specific threads/dates on the eMu board and they work as they should.

Thanks again.
For example, from the people who replied in this thread and where their avatars come from:
* brighternow: from http://www.progarchives.com/

other people have one that was uploaded to the forum itself. It just makes the difference between:

Still need to do that software upgrade..

I guess something has changed somewhere. I'll have a look, maybe I can figure it out.
