History lesson: In 1983 Chrome released an album called No Humans
Allowed that was one side of very strange, experimental music and one
side of that classic Chrome art punk that had been blowing minds since
the mid 70's. Immediately after it's release Helios Creed went solo for
15 years and upon his return to the Chrome name he released Tidal Forces
(No Humans Allowed pt II). Another strange mix of experimental
instrumental songs and classic Chrome rockers. The album was only
released on CD and has never been reissued. Secret Records is proud to
be the first to get this lost Chrome album out on limited edition, color
vinyl. While remastering it we also tweaked the track list a little
making it flow more like the original No Humans. Enjoy side A when in a
psychedelic mood and side B when you need that Helios deranged,
buzz-saw, space punk.
Playing in memory of John Lennon who would have been 80 yesterday! Last night BBC4 ran a series of programmes commemorating this event. One we watched was Hard Day's Night - fifty plus years on it seems so simplistic, in a way that I never noticed when I saw it at a cinema when I was 13-14 years old!!
The work of Piercing Blake is interested in creation through 'non-means', combining no-input mixing and the processing of digital artefacts to create subtle pieces without grand narrative.
'If These Two Things Should Meet' marks Blake's first release for Åde Åde - a determinedly unbalanced affair which plays two poles against each other and skirts equilibrium before finally dipping behind the horizon.
- A brilliant composer / musician . . . also on Emusic
Andrey Vinogradov plays modern hurdy-gurdy (Viola) crafted by Wolfgang Weichselbaumer,
Vienna. With this perfect instrument he presents a peculiar mix of
ethnic tunes (Russian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Serbian,Greek, Austrian,
etc.), contemporary classical music, jazz improvisations and authentic
Russian sacred chants. Andrey’s virtuoso playing technique and elaborate
multidimensional compositions create a unique musical atmosphere.
One of my favorite releases from 2012. With all the music I have to listen to and all the music I listen to for enjoyment, it's not uncommon for me to forget about certain favorite albums. I stumbled upon this while looking for something else, and immediately hit the play button. What a lovely album. Just one gorgeous melody after the next, and each burning with their own unique flame.
It's a Hoob Jazz release, which astounds me to each time to discover the label isn't yet on Bandcamp.
