Thanks GP - I don't always follow up albums I see on here, but for some reason I clicked on this one, possibly the title, and liked the samples on Amazon, so I'll be playing the whole album if it is on Spotify.
The successive tracks "Lakewater/Parachutes," "Peel," and "Intro/Sleepy Child Asks For An Orange" is one of the most comforting, tranquil, heavenly interludes of music I've ever encountered. I've felt this way for a very long time about that music. I don't expect anyone else to agree. But Califone has been a favorite of mine for a couple decades, and this oddball collection of soundtrack/stage theater music has always stood out for me.
I'm really liking this ambient music from this solo act/ensemble(?). It was the release on the iikki label ("Volta No Vento") that got me hooked. Recently scooped up this one as well. "Phonolite" has more activity and instrumentation than its counterpart. The differences make me appreciate the other by way of contrast.
Released on the awful awful bad idea release date of December 31st. Had it been given a release date not so likely to be overlooked by myself and the rest of the writing community, this album would certainly have made my year-end best of list (for either 2013 or 2014, depending on this hypothetical modified day of hitting the shelves). Just a compelling, outstanding recording that I listen to all the time and for years.
