I just grabbed the Lissie album. I've been on the fence about it since it came out. I loved the EP but the reviews of the album have been mixed if not negative.
Anybody else get an email from Amazon about an updated track on The Decemberists' album? I don't hear a problem with the original track, so I'm a bit confused and was hoping someone here has done the update and can tell me the difference.
I have that approach too, Thom. I think they had the Second Gleam for 99c awhile ago, so I downloaded the first one yesterday with little thought. I may just be an impulsive shopper.
Today it's Two Door Cinema Club's Tourist History for $3.99, compared to a whopping $6.74 over there.
Not the deal of the day per se, but the new Cut Copy album is there for $5.99. Add the $2 VDay code and it's $3.99. A few more deals like this and it will be too easy to not renew my annual plan next month.
I'm torn about what to do about the new OTR. Emu, which I'm not using any more, has it for $5.99 and Amazon for $8.99, but the band's site has a physical CD + a 320kbps download for $14.99 and that way much more of the money goes to Karin & Linford.
I went with the OTR site for the reason you name. Someone said in another thread the bitrate's not stellar in the emu version. It's a very good album - their best in a while.
Not Amazon, but Soundway. They are offering all DL albums (except Siam) for £5.00 (including FLAC). What would that turn out to be in US$, do you think? http://soundwayrecords.greedbag.com/
Billy Higgins Meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was wondering how this interesting-looking album by jazz greats Billy Higgins, Cedar Walton, et al, came to have 340 reviews. Yes, there was a "Buffy musical"--much beloved by Buffy fans--of the same title.
Someone said in another thread the bitrate's not stellar in the emu version.
I don't know where the other thread is, or I might post this there instead, but someone I know got it from emu, and the tracks run from 149 to 185 kbps, with the average maybe in the 160's. That's not very good at all.

There's been a rash of daily downloads lately that I ignored because I already own and love them.
/edit: fixed dodgy code. BTW, the Mumford meets India deal of the Day is great, well worth your 99 cents.
I wanted to order Bright Eyes new album on wax cylinders.
$3.99
