Has anyone ever tried any of the Brilliant Classics ginormoboxsets? It's a big commitment, even though it breaks down to $1something or less in some cases per CD.
BigD,
You mean like these "Brilliant Classics" (price has jumped considerably since I posted that)? Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Classical isn't really my 'bag' so I'm not qualified to comment on the aural aspects of my purchases. So far, I've only opened the Beethoven box and only listened to the first 3-4 discs so far (Symphonies 1-4 or so).
ETA: FYI, your link to Amazon take me to a generic Amazon album search/listing (Showing 1 - 12 of 3,950,158 Results).
@Craig - That was one of my top picks for 2008. One of my first great freebies on Amie. Just popped it back on when I saw it was the the daily deal - so damn catchy.
Not deal of the day, but Bon Iver is $3.99. That'll teach Adam Klein to compare his Bon Iver numbers to Amazon's Lady Gaga numbers. Not to mention that Amazon has Times New Viking to boot.
You know you're old when you wish the clean version was on sale 'cuz the kids would really like it. Oh well, at least I reached that conclusion only after buying the dirty version; at least I'm not yet reduced to immediately reaching for clean first.
Damn, almost forgot to get back - rough day. Based on the samples I wasn't deterred but also if it wasn't $3.99 I'm not sure I'd go for it but I like George so hopefully tomorrow when I have time/strength to listen I won't be sorry. How's that for a namby-pamby answer?
Edit - Whole way through and I'm liking it and consider it money well spent. Not masterpieces, and not for purists, but I'm enjoying it. Probably still $3.99 for a while today.
Thanks for getting back. I'm passing on this one. It sounds strong, but in the past I haven't been that into Thorogood. I sense some buyer's remorse in the future.
Guy Clark - Songs and Stories. A live album, 23 cuts although there are a few intros and stories, 68 minutes total. If you do not know Guy Clark, he is a Texas based singer - songwriter, far less morose that Townes Van Zandt, less big-bandy than Lyle Lovett, (probably) less stoned than Willie. Some of his best are on this album.

I've heard it's Rafael Saadiq's best work. That's good enough for me to take the chance without hearing it first.

Anyone have this and able to give me some thoughts?

I'm a fan of their last album, and the title track to this one is fantastic. So I'm sold.
