Getting ready for a tripto NZ next week, the plane journey will help me to sort out my best of 2019, this one is on the list, its NYOP on Bandcamp btw.
I think this is his 5th new album in about 2 1/2 years, putting many artists to shame. Upto his usual standard - some outstanding tracks, some good tracks and one or two less good, IMO.
The Krell patch is Todd Barton’s modular interpretation of the Ancient Music of Krell song from the 1956 Forbidden Planet film soundtrack. Download this Kyma sound: kyma.symbolicsound.com/library/kind-…#installation Images: Forbidden Planet by Roger Dean.
When it emerges from the skronky murk, the Krell is a writhing, cavorting phantasm. The challenge with Krell is to find a combination of settings and routings that brings out the soul in the machine. The basic idea is simple enough, but the details and subtle modulation are where it comes alive. manual-synthesis.info/2017/01/26/krell/
As posted on the "Still on eMusic" discussion, am just listening to two of vert best late 60s/70s Hard Rock/Heavy Psych sampler albums anywhere (forget about just eMusic), namely "Brown Acid - The Third Trip" and "Brown Acid - The Fourth Trip".
If these two albums don't take you back to those, heady, swirly days then nothing will! Absolutely top notch.
