Led by nyckelharpa virtuoso Marco Ambrosini – first heard on ECM with Rolf Lislevand - Ensemble Supersonus applies its unique instrumental blend, capped by the otherworldly overtone singing of Anna-Maria Hefele, to very wide-ranging repertoire. Building bridges between cultures and traditions, Resonances sets compositions by Biber, Frescobaldi and Hildegard von Bingen next to Swedish folk music, Ottoman court music, and original pieces by the band members.
Edit: I cannot tell if track 5 Davz23Bzmho / Ted Hearne is glitched at the 2.30 mark or just really avant-garde
Details from the Bandcamp site:
American cellist Ashley Bathgate will release a new solo album, ASH, on
September 27, 2019 through New Amsterdam Records. The album features a
six-movement suite of cello works written expressly for her by the
American composer collective Sleeping Giant, which includes Timo Andres,
Christopher Cerrone, Jacob Cooper, Ted Hearne, Robert Honstein, and
Andrew Norman.
The ASH suite was completed in 2016 and then honed during tours
throughout the US and abroad. The final album version is a dynamic
collection of pieces driven by Bathgate's hope that they may bring joy
and insight to other listeners and players out there; perhaps even
inspiring them to create new works the way the Bach suites inspired her.
