@Brighternow-
Walter Ghoul's Lavender Brigade recorded 2 LPs around 1999-2000; Mr. Spaceman 1966 is from "Merry X-mas Elizabeth KImball".
they courted the mystique of their vintage; their first album: "Walter Ghoul's Lavender Brigade is Here" is also great.
i listed my number 1 psychedelic pop release of the last 25 years a couple of posts ago: The Virgineers.
Anthony Braxton's Quartet (Dortmund) 1976, (free on Ubuweb) Bass - Dave Holland
Drums, Percussion - Barry Altschul
Saxophone [Alto, Contrabass, Sopranino], Clarinet, Clarinet [Contrabass] - Anthony Braxton
Trombone - George Lewis
Recorded live at the "Jazz Life" Festival in Dortmund, October 31, 1976.
- Kindly recommended by Kargatron at my Ubuweb thread - Thank you !
Vivian Girls - Vivian Girls - I ignored this for more than a year, because it seemed overhyped - then I got some live stuff from FMA and found I liked it so I got this and found I liked it too. Sometimes I guess it's ok to believe the hype.
So Brighternow, if you had to pick just one Legendary Pink Dots release to start with?
Erykah Badu - New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh) - sold a whole pile of old cd's to get this - the used to new exchange rate seems to be getting worse - but so worth it.
Georgia Anne Muldrew - Kings Ballad - I guess it's that kind of morning - this is good but on first impression not as good as Badu - but worth checking out - especially while it's on sale.
@amclark - I just picked that up the other day (after getting something of hers on Amie Street). Really dig the samples. Unfortunately the Ubiquity sale just ended. I'm annoyed because I had 18 nps to use and was deciding on which 9 np albums to get. Now the one I'm definitely getting is back to 12 and that leaves me with 6... argh!
"All forms of direct action are practiced by nonhuman animals, albeit without communicative elements. nonhuman animals routinely and deliberately destroy walls and other structures erected by people; "steal" themselves and other animals away from human possession and refuse to accede to human authority, hegemony, or boundaries. birds, insects and other animals often do organize themselves to fulfill collective purposes by nonhierarchical and non-coercive means and thus offer models of alternatives to governments." (pattrice jones: natural anarchism in action)
On their third full length album this icelandic project continues its ideological struggle against men's arrogance and pretend predominance. wrathful but never nihilistic, gjölls lyrics appeal to those who still keep an open mind, a large amount of hope, and the ability to separate right from wrong.
Musically, Jóhann Eiríksson and Sigurður Harðarson have expanded their previous album's harsh eruptions into powerful ambient noise hymns that are combined with a kind of post-krautrock feel. sum of transformations contrasts analogue guitar strokes with the digital iciness of dark and disturbing soundscapes.
an outstanding release, both calming and intensely enraged at the same time. not to be taken lightly."
- ant-zen.
Ghedalia Tazartes - Check-point Charlie - thanks to kargatron and Brighternow for the gimme 10 tracks experimental thread which I spent some time looking through the other day.

the second best psychedelic pop group of the last 25 years
Armaggedon 1970 German band
more impressive depth, German guitar rock from 1970
1966 - that's 44 years ago.

Speaking of post psychedelia reminded me of:
The Dukes Of Stratosphere - 25 O'clock

these guys are some of the unsung heroes of keeping the psychedelic sound out there; been doing it since the 80s, i think:

I was about to make it a choice between LPD classic, experimental and "pop", but decided to go classic:
The Maria Dimension
Erykah Badu - New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh) - sold a whole pile of old cd's to get this - the used to new exchange rate seems to be getting worse - but so worth it.
Thanks Brighternow; will check out.
Gjöll - Sum of Transformations
Fred Thomas - Everything Is Pretty Much Totally Fucked - wonderful version of Don't Worry among other nice stuff - still pretty cheap.
(man those amie street images are big)
(man that amclark2 is lazy when it comes to trying to re-size images)
Man ! - that Don't Worry cover matches the Beach Boys version in intensity and passion in it's own twisted way.
- Never heard of Fred Thomas...
Now I have, Thanks !
edit:
Grabbed the I Heard The Angels Sing for $0.81.
S:T Erik - From Under the Tarn
- Damn fine oldschool 'ish heavy heavy metal.
Guitar-boy Superstar by Sir Victor Uwaifo
Obodo Eyo (ekassa 12) is my favorite track, such a smooth and upbeat groove.
ditto.
