rocks and swings like John Lee Hooker's crawling kingsnake taking its freshly fitted shoulders for a spin down a sizzling blue funk sidestreet where Zappa and Big Swifty blabber and blow about pockets full of cheap wine returns.
for those who like their blues ragged, jagged and slightly left of center.

Since things seem a little slow over at the street, I thought I'd point out that there are some a number of very accomplished guitar wranglers on the Favored Nations label many at very reasonable or even low prices.
i'm a sucker for this kind of simple, riff happy rock and roll that sounds as much fun to play as it is to listen to.
this not only kicks your ass: it wraps it, stamps it and mails it to your next of kin.

P-Funk meets Grand Funk ..
Ever wonder what it would have sounded like if Eddie Hazel and Bernie Worrell had
joined Mark, Don and Mel back in 73?
Neither have I ..but, this little gem, featuring Bernie Worrell himself, might not be
to far removed from the result of that strange gathering.
These guys sound great: Hazel/Hendrix guitar moves, slappy bass, sweaty skins and Bernies space funkin keys peel layers of funk off rock and roll soul .if only they had an ace songwriter.
Zombie Nation by the Brains - nothing major, but fun Shockabilly. The sort of thing you want to crank up in the car with the windows down on a hot day.
"thrash" is a bit of a stretch, although there are some heavy moments; maybe avant lounge funk or theme music for the coolest 70s cop show never made-watch out for the climactic chase scenes.
this certainly Barnabied my Friday afternoon Jones.
Not under 4, but all of Sarah McLachlan's albums are currently $7.99. For those of us that play the 50% and REC game well, I'm sure that's under 4 bucks.
Mix Zepplins hopping blue hammer, Aerosmiths stones-in-their-shoes swagger, Alice Coopers smoothed edge punk and Pink Floyds tall weed drift together in a song, shake well, then sprinkle lightly with grunge and a pinch of brass: serve loud.
Anytime you combine the production of an incarcerated murderer and the singing of his wife of 1/3 his age, you can't help but get magic! And it's still FREE!
Morphine, Sonics,Stooges, ZZ Top and everything about rock n' roll that restores the rubber legs and elastic heart of youth, even if it's only for 60 minutes a shot. (you should consult a physician before in engaging in sessions lasting more than 4 hours)
Shooter Jennings & Heirophant, "Highly anticipated 2010 album from singer/songwriter Shooter Jennings. Black Ribbons features a unique collaboration between Jennings and best-selling author Stephen King. The 70-minute concept album sees King provide the voice of Will O' The Wisp, a late-night talk show radio host who is in the last hour of his final broadcast before the airwaves is overtaken by 'government-approved and regulated transmissions.' "
Great call on Lily Maase and her band album. I'd pretty much stopped bothering to even check in on Amie St., and jazz has been such a wasteland of new arrivals for months that I don't even bother looking through it. Bought both albums based just on the samples.
Both albums still under two bucks.
