Hot damn, I had heard rumors of Cornershop getting back together. Can't really complain about it already being up to $3.84 considering my RECs today have more than covered it.
Now checking out the Paper Bird and All Leather releases.
Pssst...for you out of USers. I used this site while on vacation and made several purchases at Amie with no problem: http://www.proxywebsite.org/ It's a little slower surfing through there, but it works.
CW, could I ask you a favour? Could I ask you to edit and use PM instead? Having that info on a public messageboard (that Amie likely reads) is kinda asking to have that avenue eliminated in the future
I just checked - only 2/3rds through the month and I have close to two hundred albums......time for a 12 step program......
How do you find the time (if you do) to listen to even a fraction of that much music? There aren't enough hours in the day. Do you listen to everything eventually, or do you check out a couple of tracks and delete the album if you don't like them?
I'm just curious, because I have a smaller but still considerable backlog of unheard music on my hard drive, and I sometimes wonder if I'll ever make a dent in it.
froggie's clearly an extreme outlier, but for a more normal listening-load, if you listen digitally you can use smart playlists to keep your un- (or less-)heard music percolating to the top pretty easily without even thinking about it.
It's a sickness! Before Amie, I was downloading about 20-25 albums per month over at eMu - now my average combine take is about 100 albums a month). I do listen to 3-5 albums a day (mostly at work), however.
The get it now or pay more later, definitely contributes to the situation, as does the fact the I get roughly $3.50 of credit for every dollar spent (when the credit sales and RECs are figured in) and that I pay less than $1.50 per album in Amie money when the freebies are figured in (that more like about 40 cents in real money). Given that I've trimmed back my spending at eMu by about $30 a month, I'm spending about the same amount as I did before.
How do you get that $3.50 for every dollar you spend number? By my math, you get $2.70. Two dollars in credit for each real dollar (during 50% off sales) plus the $0.70 made off the 2 RECs you get per dollar (since you average thirty-five cents per REC).
Just curious if you have a different formula than me. I'm not always so good at math. By my formula, I'm making about $3.65 per dollar. If my math is wrong, I'm probably making even more, which would be pretty cool.
You're right. I doubled the REC money twice by accident, although these days I make more than 35 cent per REC. It's my historical tendency to REC stuff that only maxed out at 15 cents a track that brought the average down. I'm guessing I currently make closer to 50 cents a REC these days.
Kayo Dot - Coyote on Hydra Head. Their first album was on Tzadik. The vocals don't do much for me, but track 4 sounds great. 12 nps on emu. Currently cheap on amie.
Whoa, that Kayo Dot is something intriguing. The vocals can get a little monotonous at times, but the music grabs me thus far. Snagged Coyote and I'm now checking out Blue Lambency Downward which is only $1.68 for now.
After tracks 2 and 3 and the start of 4 I'm clicking BUY NOW...
Hoofoos, I picked up Coyote on your rec last night. The vocals leave something to be desired, but the overall arrangements (horns and all) are wonderful. Big Thanks.
